SCA Project of the Year Award
Since 2010, the Slag Cement Association has been running its annual slag cement project of the year awards program. The awards recognize projects for excellence and innovation in concrete using slag cement. For the 2016 awards, eight projects were honored in the categories of architectural design, durability, green design, high performance, sustainability, and a new category, innovative applications.   more...
University of Notre Dame Campus Crossroads Project 
The University of Notre Dame Campus Crossroads Project was the largest construction venture undertaken at the University since its opening in 1842. The $400 million, LEED Silver project consisted of attaching three new buildings onto the existing iconic Football Stadium; increasing the Stadium’s capacity by 750,000 square feet.   more...
Oceanfront Residence 
Approximately 1300 yards of concrete were used throughout this uncommon residence. Concrete was used for the tennis pavilion, an underground tunnel to this pavilion, benches, planters and stairs as well as the supporting structure. Only a small portion of the home can be seen from the outside; thus the need for sulfate resistance. The concrete walls, floors, and ceilings show a wood appearance created with white pine forms.   more...
ODOT Rt. 6 Bridge Slide 
Ohio Department of transportation for the first time in their history removed and replaced an interstate bridge over the course of a weekend. Known as Accelerated Bridge Construction, two bridges were slid onto place to minimize traffic disruption. 4200 yd3 of ODOT QC2 performance based concrete was used for two bridges for both QC1 and QC2 design requirements.    more...
Revive I-275 
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) spent $75 million to replace 88 lane miles of pavement on I-275 through Wayne and Oakland Counties, in Metro Detroit, Michigan. This particular stretch of I-275 is the busiest stretch of freeway in MI. Therefore, MDOT instituted a $150,000/day penalty if the freeway was not open September 1, 2016.   more...

Designed by Handel Architects, the Rowan utilizes exposed structural cast-in-place concrete as a key architectural design element. Located in the old industrial wing of San Francisco, CA, the Rowan consists of 71,500 sq. ft. of mixed-living and residential space.   more...
SLS LUX 
This 57-story tower was designed by internationally renowned architecture firm Arquitectonica, featuring the first LED façade by prominent lighting artists Ana Martinez. Residents of the 450 luxury condominiums featuring private elevators can also enjoy the ground floor restaurant with celebrated chef Katsuya Uechi and cocktail lounge by SBar.   more...
St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport 
The airport expansion called for the rehabilitation of 16,000 cubic yards (yd3) of apron pavement. The scope of the project included removal of asphalt and PCC pavement sections in the vicinity of the airport gates 1-11 and associated baggage areas. The project was completed in five phases spanning nine months during the airport’s peak season.    more...
Ten Hudson Yards 
Ten Hudson Yards is one of the very first concrete office buildings in NYC. This 50 story 895-foot tall project consisted of 107,000 cubic yards of concrete. This building is the first structure of a 17,000,000 square foot complex on the west side of Manhattan. Children’s Hospital of Richmond 
Children's Hospital of Richmond at Virginia Commonwealth University is a multi-story, 640,000 square-foot, high-tech outpatient pavilion for pediatric services. The pavilion is the largest, most advanced children’s outpatient facility in the region. It includes diagnostic and treatment services, and is designed to meet the unique health care needs of children with the most advanced and coordinated care possible.   more...
Tilikum Crossing Bridge 
At 1700 feet in length, Tilikum Crossing, Portland Oregon’s "Bridge of the People," is the first bridge of its kind in the U.S. A cable-stayed bridge, with two piers in the water and two on land, Tilikum Crossing is designed to carry metropolitan area express (known as MAX) light rail trains, buses, street cars, cyclists, and pedestrians, but not automobiles.   more...
