Farmington Hills, Mich., November 7, 2023 - The American Concrete Institute (ACI) announced the winners of the 2023 ACI Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards, who were honored during the ACI Concrete Convention on October 30, 2023 in Boston, MA, USA.
The winning SCA member projects include: the Salesforce Tower Chicago (St Marys Cement), The Reed at Southbank (Skyway Slag Cement), North Bend Torguson Skatepark (Heidelberg Materials), and the Sixth Street Viaduct Replacement Project (CEMEX).

The ACI Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards were created to honor the visions of the most creative projects in the concrete industry, while providing a platform to recognize concrete innovation, technology, and excellence across the globe. To be eligible for participation in the Excellence Awards, projects needed to be submitted by a local ACI Chapter, ACI International Partner, or by self-nomination.
An independent panel of esteemed industry professionals judged projects and selected winners based on architectural and engineering merit, creativity, innovative construction techniques or solutions, innovative use of materials, ingenuity, sustainability and resilience, and functionality.
All the winning projects were selected from among several possible categories, and included:

1st Place and Overall Excellence Winner: Quay Quarter Tower, in New South Wales, Australia.
2nd Place: University of British Columbia MacLeod Engineering Building Renewal, Vancouver Campus, Musqueam Traditional Territory, in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Decorative Concrete
1st Place: North Bend Torguson Skatepark, in North Bend, WA, USA.
2nd Place: Block G-1, in Tampa, FL, USA.
Low-Rise Structures
1st Place: Bou You Rou, Sakai-shi, in Fukui, Japan.
2nd Place: Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad; Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, and Management Building, in Hyderabad, Telangana, India.
Mid-Rise Structures
1st Place: Centro Cívico Universitario – Bloque Rgd (University Civic Center), in Cundinamarca, Bogotá, Colombia.
2nd Place: University of California San Francisco Nancy Friend Pritzker Psychiatry Building, in San Francisco, CA, USA.
