Slag cement is a recovered material from the iron production process and because of this, reduces the environmental impact of concrete mixtures. Additionally, slag cement is very effective in reducing permeability and increasing durability in concrete.
Environmental Product Declaration
The growing need to reduce the carbon impact of concrete has lead the SCA to assist in creating an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for slag cement. The EPD provides quantifiable environmental data on the materials, transportation and processing impacts in the production of slag cement.

The Slag Cement Association has released a mix design and cement efficiency model template for industry use. The downloadable Excel model consists of two components; a mix design calculator and cement efficiency evaluator.
